Trach spacers

The KapiGel spacers are way better than my MacGyver prototype. Using a silicone pad, (the kind worn by ice skaters to prevent ankle blisters), I cut out a circle with a hot cookie cutter and melted a hole in the middle with a tiny hot spoon. It kind of worked but was tacky on all sides. At least KapiGel pads are sealed on one side. They are the right diameter and when I put two together they are the right thickness for my son’s trach/stoma. The only problem is the inner and outer edges are not sealed. They stick to everything. It’s difficult to slide the KapiGel spacer along the length of a trach. It’s also difficult to get a 4x4 gauze under the spacer since the unsealed edges stick to the gauze. If the edges were sealed I would give the KapiGel Spacers five stars!
