I have had the bladder stimulator for 3 years. The test stimulator was a good results. I was excited to get an implant. Now that I got the implant I do say IT HAS NEVER WORKED like the two day trial stimulator. I have a question- - 1) the two day trial stimulator did you not leave it in long enough for a patient to actually get a good trial or 2) was the trial stimulator working on a different regime than the stimulator that is actually implanted?
There are different programs that you can use and different strength that can be all programmed to your actual stimulator. I used every one of the programs. I set each program from the lowest strength and went up to the highest strength that I could stand. None of them programs and strength gave me relief. The higher the strength will hurt “down there” in different areas. I would leave each program and strength for a month or longer to make certain I was giving each setting my best chance for it to work.
I contacted my doctor’s office and went in for a visit with the “nurse practitioner “ which proved nothing she said I needed to have a visit with the Medtronic rep. Well, each time I go to the doctor office I have a $25. co-pay. Guess what I had to pay $25 just to see the company rep!!! She was two hours late for the appointment. Then she spent maybe 15 minutes and installed a new program on my stimulator. She told me NOT TO CHANGE THE SETTINGS AT ALL for one month. She said she would give me a phone call in one month and check on the reaction I was receiving from that setting. Here it is FIVE months later and no phone call!! Peeing on myself everyday.
Yes I should have called the 800 customer service number before now. So today I will call the customer service number and I’ll be sure to tell them how much I’m not elated with this Medtronic Bladder Stimulator and how professional the Medtronic Rep is with calling me back in one month.
To sum this experience up, my recommendation is do what ever it takes to help your bladder leakage but do not go through the surgeries of the trial and positively do not have a permanent Medtronic Bladder Stimulator implanted.
Thank you for reading this review. I’m contemplating having the implant REMOVED. Oh by the way I had to check the star rating in order to post my review. I do not agree that one star is reasonable. It gets a thumbs down for all areas, the actual trial, the use of the implant, the program, the settings and the company rep.
