Oral Care Kits are a critical part of a neonatal VAP-prevention bundle implemented by many critical care units. According to the American Association of Critical Care Nurses, oral hygiene is considered to be an important intervention, in combination with other strategies, for the prevention of ventilator-associated pneumonia.¹ VAP is the second most common hospital-acquired infection among pediatric and neonatal intensive care patients.²
